As 5th-generation dairy and cattle ranchers, our family has worked the land in rural Colorado for over 100 years. We’ve weathered storms, both literal and political, and have always stood strong in defense of agriculture, family, and faith. Running a restaurant is never easy but during COVID, it became nearly impossible. Like many small business owners, I faced uncertainty, financial pressure, and the fear of losing everything my family had worked so hard to build. During that time, Colleen Whitlow was one of the few local leaders who stepped up, reached out, and offered real help.
Colleen personally helped guide Ranchero’s Mexican Restaurant through the challenges of the pandemic. She provided resources, made connections, and helped us navigate constantly changing regulations. Her support was not just appreciated, it was instrumental in helping our business survive. Thanks to her commitment and care, Ranchero’s is still serving the Mead community today.
As a legal immigrant of a minority-owned business, I also value how Colleen stands up for equal opportunity and understands the unique struggles that diverse small business owners face. She listens, she respects our voices, and she follows through. Colleen Whitlow is a champion for small businesses. I have known Colleen for over twenty years. In those twenty years I have witnessed a person who is dedicated to helping others. Before entering Colorado politics, she served our Country in the Air Force. I believe that this was the foundation of her service toward others and it has served her well.
As Mayor of Mead, Colorado, she has worked relentlessly to make the town far better off than before she was elected to the position. While she was Mayor she also took on added responsibilities such as Mead Urban Renewal Authority Commissioner (Chair), Denver Regional Council of Governments (Vice Chair), CDOT Region 4 Representative Colorado Municipal League (CML) Policy Committee Member, North I-25 Coalition, State Highway 66 Coalition (Chair), South Weld County Sub-regional Transportation Forum (Chair), I-25 Parallel Arterial Coalition – High Plains Boulevard, Mayor's Alliance to End Childhood Hunger, National League of Cities Representative, Communities That Care, and Southwest Front Range Passenger Railroad Coalition.

I am Herman Schranz, a current trustee for the Town of Mead, and today it is my pleasure to endorse Colleen Whitlow for the position of Colorado House of Representatives in District 64.
I have personally known and worked closely with Colleen since 2014. We were both elected to a trustee position on the Mead Board. As freshmen trustees we worked closely together and helped guide the town through a tumultuous period. From the very beginning Colleen demonstrated her commitment and dedication to moving our town forward. She experienced many challenges which clearly tested her knowledge and skills, but she learned very quickly how to deal with difficult situations. Since that first term Colleen was elected to be the Mayor of Mead, which she has held since. During the last four years as Mayor and through her determination and commitment Colleen has moved this town into the 21st century. Her leadership has guided all of us and set an example which has resulted in a unified positive direction.
